Sclerotherapy: For Spider Veins

Sclerotherapy is a very popular method of eliminating spider veins. A solution called a sclerosing agent is injected into the veins. This solution causes an irritation to the inner lining of the vein resulting in closure of the vein. A small gauge needle is used to perform the injections and most patients relate the discomfort to that of an ant bite. The majority of persons who have Sclerotherapy performed have satisfying results.

The number of treatments needed differs from patient to patient, depending on the extent of the problem. An average of three to four treatments is required in most cases. The treatment sessions last approximately 30 minutes each. During this time the front and back of both legs will be treated. The sessions are done at four-week intervals until optimal results are obtained.

Patients with a history of spider veins tend to develop new ones. A yearly touch up may be recommended.

Ambulatory Phlebectomy: For Large Painful Veins

Ambulatory Phlebectomy is an in office procedure done under local anesthesia. During this procedure, damaged veins are micro-extracted through a minimal skin opening. No stitches are required. You may resume normal activity immediately with the assistance of compression stockings.

Ultra Sound Guided for deep veins

Deep, painful veins can be surgically treated by finding the problem veins with ultrasound. The vein can then be treated in the office with a minimal invasive ultrasound guided procedure.

VNUS™ Surgery

The VNUS Closure procedure is an alternative treatment option to traditional vein stripping surgery. VNUS Closure brings state of the art technology to an age old disease.

The closure procedure is an outpatient treatment performed in the doctor's offices, surgical centers, and hospitals.

Local or regional anesthesia is typically used to numb the treatment area. A thin catheter is then inserted into the vein through a small opening, using only a single needle stick. The catheter delivers radio frequency (RF) energy to the vein wall, causing it to heat, collapse and seal shut.

Once the diseased vein is closed, other healthy veins take over and empty blood from your legs. As normal return flow is reestablished, your symptoms should improve noticeably.
